Queen Elizabeth 2
Auckland is visited weekly by cruise ships and throngs of tourists. This week an especially memorable ship docked in the wharf- the Queen Elizabeth 2.
The infamous ship is on its final world voyage after 41 years of service. This luxury liner is still one of the fastest ships in the world despite having traversed the Atlantic more than 800 times with over 2.5 million passengers. Its stately presence drew crowds all day; at 10:30pm when she left Auckland, the city rang with her horn and many people lined the wharf to wave goodbye.
This is just another example of the nautical flavor this city is known for!
